Hey! I just came upon this site when I ran a search for some Beasties lyrics.
I noticed in the song "Car Thief" you say the phrase "In The Belly of the Beast" is in reference to the "book written by prison writer Jack Henry Abbott." But "the belly of the beast" is usually just used to mean "prison" or "jail," which is what Abbott is referring to in the title of his book. The lyric "The Godfather of Soul is in the belly of the beast / For smoking that dust at St. Anthony's Feast" is without a doubt a reference to the infamous arrest and imprisonment of James Brown (the Godfather of Soul) on September 25, 1988. Brown, high on PCP ("dusted") infamously led police on a three-state car chase which finally ended when the cops shot out two of Brown's tires. Brown spent three years in jail for this. The arrest and start of Brown's imprisonment happened when the Beasties were working on PB.
The St. Anthony's Feast line I think is used because it rhymes. St. Anthony's Feast is celebrated the last week-end of August traditionally, which would have been a month before the James Brown bust.
Well, thanks for the site. I hope it keeps going!
